F-150 Raptor

I saw this post on the Ford Canada Blog and thought it was a cool truck.  Ford is running it in the Desert Off-Road Racing series in the US.  Here, in NE Alberta we don’t have the desert but we do have a number of Mud Bog competitions.  I wonder how this F-150 Raptor would do?

Here is the article by Ammar Khan:

Built with the DNA of a Baja race truck, there’s no better setting to test the truck’s mettle than a grueling racing series in the desert. And so, our Raptor is set to compete in the 2016 Best in the Desert off-road racing series’ factory stock class.

A desert test is the perfect landscape to demonstrate the strength of the Raptor’s purpose-built engine, chassis, and suspension, which enables it to travel quickly over challenging and rocky terrain. And a desert race takes testing to a whole new level. Without the benefit of any custom technology or aftermarket modifications, the redesigned Raptor will have to tackle the harshest terrain a desert can throw at it, in this grueling off-road race series.

Among many standout points in its thoroughly-impressive spec sheet, the Raptor boasts an exclusive 3.5-litre EcoBoost engine with a higher output than the preceding 6.2-litre V8, a 10-speed transmission and military-grade aluminum-alloy body. It also features the first-ever dual exhaust on a Raptor and offers improved off-road stability compared to standard F-150s, thanks to new FOX Racing Shox technologies, a wider track and new Ford Performance 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels with next-generation BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires enhance off-road performance.

Putting the all-new Raptor through this intense stretch of races will help demonstrate how a truck born in the desert is even more prepared than ever to take on the very toughest of terrain.

Thinking of packing up for a U.S. road trip to watch our Raptor in action?
